　新たにDream Theaterマニア御用達Bootleg専門レーベルが登場。厳しい世の中になったものである。(^^; 本当のところは怪しいが台湾製。以前BKSFからも同日のBootlegがリリースされていたものと記憶している。年末のSpecial Liveなのでいつもと違った雰囲気で、どちらかというと穏やかな曲が多いLive構成と意外なカヴァー選曲が楽しい。"Where are You Now?"などやり直したりしてリラックスムード。いつもと違った感じで興味深い。Pink Floydのカヴァー"Hey You"はMikeが途中歌っているがこれはちときつい。(^^; "To Live Forever"でのDerekのKey.プレイが冴えている。Derek解雇直前の音源として感慨深い。気になるのはLaBrieのマイク音質が若干機械的なところとステレオバランスが時々悪くなるところか。だがLaBrieのVo.の調子はすこぶる良く、きいていて気持ちが良い。なお、Bonus Tracksでは前々日、前日のLiveを収録している。スパニッシュ・ギターとオリエンタル・ムード抜群の"Cover My Eyes"は新鮮。"Anna Lee"は一度生で見てみたいなぁ。楽器持ち替えバンドNightmare Cinemaは楽しい。

　Dream Theaterマニア御用達Bootleg専門レーベル第２弾。Bospop Fes.音源。こちらもオーディエンス録音ながら音質は良好。（但し、この盤も若干ステレオバランスが崩れる。）ボーナス・トラックでの注目は昼の部Mike PortnoyのDs. Clinicがあり、そして夜の部(^^; にたまたまSpock's Beardもオランダ公演があったためMike Portnoyが飛び入りでSpock's Beardの代表曲"Go The Way You Go"に参加している。地元ファンにとっては嬉しいハプニングだったであろう。

　Dream Theaterマニア御用達Bootleg専門レーベル第３弾。欧州Tour８日目をコンプリートに収録した音源。Tour最初期のためまだ"Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence Disc 2"は演奏せず。音は遠くで録ったものと思われ遠くこれまたステレオバランスが良くない。LaBrieの調子は今ひとつでやはり"Surrounded", "Take The Time"は辛そうだ。但しそれぞれの楽器の音がきちんと聞こえるためさほど問題にならないかも。ベースがいい感じで響いている。

　関係者流出モノと思われる驚愕のサウンドボード音源がリリース。日本製Bootlegでご丁寧にも「外れ防止のため中央固定部分が非常に固くなっています。」の注意書きの紙が封入されていた。(^^; 以前「Lido Beach Party」というBootlegが極一部で出回った物の結局入手できなかったが、こうして再びきくチャンスが得られて非常に嬉しい。マスターのままのコピーと思われるが、"A Change of Seasons"がDisc OneとDisc Twoに分かれて収録されているのと"Voices"が分断されて収録されていることや"Learning to Live"がフェードアウトしてしまう所が残念なところか。「A Change of Seasons」の新Versionの披露Liveであるのと久しぶりのLive始めということもあり"Surrounded"をやり直したり、"Erotomania"のいつもと調子が異なる？演奏と、必ずしもバンドがベストの状態である訳ではなく、サウンドボードなのでLaBrieが客側にマイクを向けているときのコーラス部はVo.が抜けているので(^^; この点は留意のこと。但し並のBand以上のパフォーマンスであることには変わりがなく、ペトの情感溢れる"Guitar Solo"は必聴だし、ファンは存分に楽しめる。必聴盤。

110☆Metropolis Pt 2 Demo (Web Download版) '03
　Paradigm ShiftよりDownloadしてきた約12分音源。音質は劣悪ながらアイデアの詰め合わせのまだ曲が殆ど出来上がっていない状態での貴重な音源だ。特にギターのフレーズはアルバムテイクよりも随分とJamっぽくてアレンジがかなり異なる。

　Rotterdam公演を完全収録したBootleg。ジャケットの入れ方が通常の3枚組CDと入れ方が逆だったのでイスラエル製か？と思ったアナタはユーロ・プログレ・マニアと認定したい。更にレーベルの「Metal for Nations」でニヤリとするファンは30〜40代メタル・マニアであろう。(^^; 余談はさておき、このBootlegはオーディエンス録音ながら音質は非常に良好。Disc ThreeのRudessのKey.の響きが良く拾えていて良い雰囲気である。演奏の充実ぶりも凄まじくマニア必聴アイテムである。但し"Goodnight Kiss"でのオーディエンスのおしゃべりは勘弁願いたい。この曲では更に音も一瞬揺れる。アンコールの"The Spirit Carries on"のイントロで何故か観衆の笑いがありきっと番長ポーが悪戯していたのであろう。しかしながらオーディエンスとの合唱は感動的。

　「The Atco Demo」と「Taste The Memories」の２枚CDが付いてきたファン待望のCarpe Diem! No.16。今回も楽しい記事が満載だ。この「The Atco Demos」は'91/5 New York, SuffernでのBeartracks Studioでのベーシックトラック、New Jerseyでのオーバーダブを加えたDemo。取りあえずBootlegコーナーに入れているが、「Images and Words」10周年記念International Fan Clubs CD 2002である。"To Live Forever"は「Cleaning Out The Closet」、"Take The Time"は「Lie」の12inchシングル盤と、「The Silent Man」のCDシングルに収録されている。注目は"Metropolis - Part 1"で恐らく初出。イントロのJamesのVo.とコーラス部、ベースが結構最終トラックと変化しているのが興味深い。

　こちらも「Images and Words」10周年記念International Fan Clubs CD 2002。他Bootleg「Moon Bubbles」「Forbidden Dreams」「Mission : Impossible」「The Dance of Eternity」でもきける音源であるが、当然というか最も音質がいい。"Mission : Impossible〜Afterlife"の溌剌とした勢いのある演奏が眩しい。なお、何故かクレジット日に間違いがあったので上記に訂正日にて記述した。

　「First Season」同様関係者流出もののやばいブツがリリースされた。パッケージはまぁBoot DVDらしくそっけないが日本語表記の「ディスクの取り出し方」説明が付いているのには笑ってしまった。内容の方であるが貴重な映像が満載。Charlie Dominiciは"A Fortune in Lies"や"The Ones Who Help to Set The Sun"で歌うよりCreamのカヴァー"Crossroad"での歌の方が正直合っているなぁ、とか、Kevin Mooreはあんなにワイルドだったのかとか、"Self Introduction"でいくらメンバーに呼ばれても返事をせずにもくもくとベースを弾いているJohn Myungは相変わらずだったとか、Neil PeartやMarillionのでっかいポスター？をバックに演奏したくてたまらない姿で体力有り余っているなぁとか非常に興味深い。特に"A Fortune in Lies"の番長＆ペトの後半の踊りながらの演奏が凄まじい。(^^;
　無駄なエフェクト処理や古い映像なのでいくら関係者流出ものとは言え画像もそれなりなのがマイナス点だが、当時から圧倒的なパワーと演奏力にはハッとさせられた。また当時でもうDream Theaterの1stに収録された上記２曲はほぼ完成していたという事実は非常に貴重である。マニア必見には間違いないが、Kevin Mooreファンが見ていいのかどうか非常に難しいところである。(^^; しかし"Meet Band..."は皆ヤバすぎるぞぉ。(^^;

　Ytsejam Records 「Dream Theater Official Bootleg Series」第１弾Demo編。アナログ４トラック・レコーディングのため流石に音質は良くないが、既発のBootleg「Jag Panzer / Majesty」、「Live in Long Island Part II 」、「Instru Mental II」、「No Sleep Since Brooklyn 9/25/86」、「Majestic Harmonies」、「Majesty / March of The Tyrant 」、「Majestic Dreams 」などに比べれば当然というか音が最も良い。

　Ytsejam Records 「Dream Theater Official Bootleg Series」第２弾Live編。過去にストリーミングで流れたものの、ごく僅かな人しかきけなかった貴重な音源である。見事な"Take The Time"での演奏と相俟ってLaBrieのVo.のポテンシャルが非常に高い。このCDのハイライトと言っていいかも。残念ながら後半になるに従ってLaBrieの声の調子は下降気味になっていくが、このCDの他の目玉としては"Pull Me Under"でRay Alderがゲストで、"Perfect Strangers", "The Trooper", "Where Eagles Dare", "Killers"でBruce Dickinsonがリード・ヴォーカリストとして参加しているところであろうか。個人的には"Anna Lee"の収録が嬉しい。また、みゅんのベースが良くきこえていて気持ちが良い。（蛇足：最近の調べではみゅんちゃんのハングル読みから察するに「みょんぐ」に近い。「みょ」は日本語より口を開け気味、「ん」は口を閉じない感じで「ぐ」は発音せず「ぐ」の気持ちで発音を止める感じが近いのではないかと。本日のハングル講座終わり。(^^;）

　Ytsejam Records 「Dream Theater Official Bootleg Series」第３弾Studio編。個人的には今回リリースされた３枚の中での一押しはコレだ。非常に興味深い音源が満載。The Sessionsサイドではほぼ完成形の"Overture 1928"、"Another Day"のような美しいSaxがきける"Through Her Eyes"、サイケ度がアルバムテイクよりあり、毒気がある"Home (Very 1st Live Run Through of 1st Half)"、Vo.無しでも叙情的な"The Spirit Carries on (Live Rehearsal of Original Arrangement)"がお薦め。でも邪道なマニアには"The Spirit Carries on (JP Vocal Demo)"だな。LaBrieの偉大さを思い知った。犬吠えてるし。(^^; The Alternate Mixesではクレジット上では流れを汲むために"Regression"、"The Dance of Eternity"、"One Last Time"、"Finally Free"はFinal Mixを使用したと書かれている。これは正解と思う。従ってAnother takesとして「SFAM」が楽しめる内容となっている。素晴らしい！

　再び元？関係者流出もの？が登場。「Awake」のDemoテイクを集めたマテリアルである。シリアルNo.入り300枚限定盤。"6:00"、"Lifting Shadows off a Dream"、"Caught in a Web"は「Majesty - Scenes from a Memory」と同じソースを元にしていると考えられる。参考音源として、FMでOn Airされた「Winter Rose in The Dream」の方はDJが被さるもののダイナミックに楽器の分離が良い部分があったりするのはメンバー自身が持ち込んだ音源だから当然かも知れない。（ただ、「Winter Rose in The Dream」のアレンジは若干異なっている）それ以外は恐らく初出と思われ非常に貴重であるが、曲によって音質にムラ(特に"The Mirror / Lie"の6:30や10:00辺りが顕著)があったり、音飛び("Lie"の4:30過ぎ)したりするのが残念である。"Lie"のソロ部分がまだまとまり切れていない箇所があり興味深い。Kevinマニアは"The Mirror / Lie"のKey.のフィーチャー部分は必聴かも。いずれはYtsejam Recordsで正式？リリースされるのを期待したい。
　蛇足であるが、この「Awake - Demos」をきいていて「Awake」発売当時、LaBrieの声がクリアではない！とか大きな論議を起こしたことを思い出した。今となっては殆ど気にならないのだが、「I&W」でファンになった人が去っていったのは事実。私はスタジオ盤と言えば今は「Awake」を聴く機会が多い。"Voices"はいつきいてもゾクゾクする。

　Joe SatrianiとKing's XとのカップリングTour時のLive。従って収録時間も80分弱であるが、コンプリートに収録。Bootのタイトルはスペルミスと思われるので修正した。結構小さい会場の雰囲気である。オーディエンス録音でVo.が不自然なバランスであるが、ききにくい音質ではない。いきなり最初の"About to Crash"でマイクのせいかVo.が拾いきれないとか、チャンネルバランスも崩れるとか、低音が多少割れたりするのでハード・コアなDTマニアへのみ薦める内容であるが、"Goodnight Kiss"でのLaBrieのVo.は素晴らしい。他のききどころとしては"The Killing Hand"であろうか。RudessのKey.とPetrucciのg.が非常に興味深いアレンジを展開する。"Pull Me Under"は途中クレジットの如く倍速Ver.となる。
